WODONGA, VIC. — A driver was better off sticking to choccy eggs after he was intercepted and allegedly blew more than seven times the alcohol limit in Wodonga yesterday.
Officers observed a vehicle allegedly performing an illegal U-turn on South Street about 9.20am on Monday, April 6.
The Ford Falcon was intercepted, and officers spoke with the allegedly disqualified driver.
The 30-year-old returned an alleged evidentiary breath test reading of .366 per cent BAC.
He was charged with drink driving and other traffic offences and bailed to appear before Wodonga Magistrates’ Court on August 11.
His vehicle was impounded for $1170, meaning his four mates, also in the vehicle, had to hop their own way home.
The impound forms part of Operation Nexus, a statewide road policing operation conducted over the Easter long weekend.
Police had a highly visible presence across Victorian roads in an effort to reduce road trauma, targeting speed, impaired driving, fatigue and distraction offences.
