Locals internet and landline services cut as construction crew damage cable during Yan Yean Rd upgrade

EXCLUSIVE

Construction crews working on the Yan Yean Road upgrade as part of Victoria’s Big Build inadvertently cut a major Telstra cable leaving residents on – and surrounding – Yan Yean Rd, Aqueduct Rd and Diamond Creek Rd without internet or landline services.

On Monday 7 January a telecommunications line was damaged by construction works. Telstra was “alerted immediately” to ensure service disruption was minimised and Telstra commenced work to restore services last night (8 January).

A spokesperson for Major Roads Victoria told Kinglake Ranges News that: “We’re aware of an issue affecting landline telephone and internet connections to some residents around Yan Yean Road.

“We’ve been working closely with Telstra who have advised they sent out a crew to start repair works on the line last [Tuesday] night.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused,” the spokesperson said.

Telstra crews are working to repair the damaged cable and restore services. The damage was accidental.
