A three-year-old boy was found dead after a blaze tore through a caravan parked at a property in Boort, in north-central Victoria on Thursday afternoon.
Arson chemists are yet to determine the cause of the fire.
Police at the scene said they believed the boy, who is from the Greater Bendigo area, was asleep in the caravan at the time of the fire.
In a statement, the family asked for privacy.
“The family is totally devastated and wrapping their love around each other and ask that you respect their privacy,” the statement read.
The investigation into the fatality is ongoing.
