MELBOURNE, VIC. — Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) detectives have charged a man after two women were sexually assaulted and raped in Melbourne’s CBD this year.
The 36-year-old Melbourne man has been charged with five counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault.
He was remanded in custody to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on January 8, 2026.
The charges relate to the sexual assaults of two 19-year-old women at separate licensed venues.
The first incident occurred at a venue on Victoria Street between 5.35am and 7am on Saturday, August 9, while the second occurred at a Smith Street, Collingwood venue between 12.30am and 3.15am on Friday, September 12.
The investigation remains ongoing.
