FERNTREE GULLY, VIC. — Police are appealing for public assistance after a man was assaulted in Ferntree Gully last month.
Investigators have been told that the victim, an 82-year-old Ferntree Gully man, yelled out to a teenager on an electric scooter whom he thought was going too fast on the Blind Creek Trail between Bond Street and Lewis Road about 1.30pm on Monday, July 6.
It is believed the male offender then verbally abused the victim before striking him to the face and head multiple times, causing the victim to fall to the ground.
Officers have been told the offender then stood beside the victim while he was on the ground and struck him again when he got up onto his feet.
The victim fell a second time, and whilst on the ground, the offender took photographs of the victim.
It is understood witnesses helped the victim as the offender left the scene on his orange and black coloured electric scooter.
A short time later, the victim was again assaulted by the offender, who struck him from behind on Rankin Road.
The victim was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
He sustained significant bruising and lacerations to his face as well as bleeding.
He is described as being between 16 to 18 years old with a skinny build and blond-coloured hair. He was wearing dark coloured clothing and a motorcycle helmet.
