This afternoon several people called triple zero reporting ‘trees on fire’ at the Relate Treatment Group at 568 Grimshaw Street, Bundoora.

A fire was reported at 568 Grimshaw Street, Bundoora as ‘trees on fire,’ on FRV two-way radio, however, police were soon on the scene and control of the incident was handed over from Fire Rescue Victoria to Victoria Police as detectives and police forensic officers arrived.

Fire Rescue Victoria’s Pumper 16 (Greensborough) and Pumper Tanker 14 (Bundoora) were first on the scene.

Upon extinguishing the blaze, Fire Rescue Victoria handed control of the incident to Victoria Police as detectives and forensic scientists from Macleod’s police forensics lab arrived.

The police officer in charge stated to VicNews that: “the area has been declared a crime scene.”

At this stage, the fire is being treated as suspicious. An investigation by police forensics and the Arson Squad is currently underway.

Police have not provided an update, but detectives remain on the scene at 00:58 AEDT. The exact circumstances of the fire are unknown.
