Police are investigating a fatal crash on Edward Rd, Chirnside Park that claimed the life of a 16-year-old Montrose boy around 2.05am.
Emergency services were called to several reports a car crashed into three parked vehicles on Edward Road at about 2.05am. The car caught fire as police and witnesses pulled the male driver and two male passengers from the vehicle.
Paramedics worked on the rear passenger but he died at the scene.
The driver, a 16-year-old Chirnside Park boy was taken to hospital where he remains with serious injuries.
His front seat passenger, a 16-year-old Mooroolbark boy was taken to hospital where he remains with serious injuries.
Major Collison Investigation Unit detectives are currently on the scene investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
