ASCOT VALE, VIC. — At 5.11pm yesterday, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) firefighters responded to a fire in a double-storey apartment complex on Portal Street, Ascot Vale.
Twenty-nine firefighters arrived on the scene within three minutes to find flames issuing from the second-floor residence.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus quickly entered the building to conduct a search to ensure no persons were inside.

Crews then attacked the fire in the bedroom of the apartment and were able to stop it from spreading to the rest of the home.
The fire was declared under control at 5.40pm, 26 minutes after FRV firefighters arrived on scene.
No injuries were reported.
Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria also attended.
