Gun, machete, found inside stolen car located in Melbourne CBD

Detectives have charged five men aged between 20 to 25 years of age after a stolen car, firearm and machete were found in A'Beckett Street, Melbourne after being spotted with a firearm at about 11.30am last Friday, June 23.

Detectives have charged five men aged between 20 to 25 years of age after a stolen car, firearm and machete were found in A’Beckett Street, Melbourne after being spotted with a firearm at about 11.30am last Friday, June 23.

Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives allege three men returned to the allegedly stolen car where police located the firearm. Three men were arrested at the scene.

Police searched the vehicle and allegedly found a machete. Two further men arrived at the scene before one of them allegedly assaulted a police officer.

There were no injuries.

  • A 25-year-old Cairnlea man has been charged with possessing a firearm, assaulting a police officer and theft of motor vehicle offences and remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on June 29;
  • A 23-year-old Clayton man has been charged with robbery and theft of a motor vehicle who was bailed to appear at Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court on July 31;
  • A 27-year-old Clayton man was charged with theft of motor vehicle and armed robbery and remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on September 18;
  • A 25-year-old Officer man has been charged with assaulting a police officer and robbery offences and remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on June 29;
  • A 20-year-old man from Derrimut has been charged with unrelated robbery offences and bailed to appear at Werribee Magistrates’ Court on July 17.
