A 46-year-old man has been arrested following a series of alleged burglaries in Manor Lakes this morning.

Police received a report from a security guard of a man allegedly seen running from a building site with his arms full of stolen items at the corner of Ballan and Ison roads at about 2.30am.

Security soon lost the man who jumped into a car and drove off however were able to provide a registration.

Nearby police were speaking with a man wanted an on outstanding low-level warrant when they saw the getaway car drive past.

The man they were speaking with assured them he would attend his local police station.

Deciding the escaping burglar was the more pressing priority, they gave chase and caught up with the vehicle outside a Parker Street address is Werribee a short time later.

They arrested the male driver and allegedly located a balaclava, gloves and headlamp in the vehicle.

Police will allege he had broken into at least three new townhouses that were nearing completion. whilst it’s still to be determined what was actually stolen.

When police arrived back at the station to begin processing the alleged burglar, they were shocked to discover the man wanted on the outstanding warrant had been good to his word and attended the station.
