Man charged following Wildwood shooting

WILDWOOD, VIC. — Police have charged a 56-year-old Wildwood man following a shooting on Wednesday night.

A 37-year-old Meadow Heights man was allegedly shot in the torso following a dispute with the occupants at a property on Wildwood Road about 7.20pm on August 19.

A 56-year-old Wildwood man was arrested on August 20 and has since been charged with one count of intentionally causing serious injury.

He appeared before the Magistrates’ Court last night, where he was remanded to reappear at a later date.

The 37-year-old remains unaccounted for, and police have significant concerns for his welfare and believe it is likely he has succumbed to his injuries.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone who has information about the whereabouts of the man, or who saw a black Mitsubishi Triton ute travelling through the Greenvale, Sunbury, Bulla, Oaklands Junction and Wildwood areas on Wednesday night and early Thursday morning to contact police.

They would also like to speak to anyone from those areas who may have dash-cam footage or CCTV.
