A 36-year-old alleged drink driver is lucky to have escaped injury after his car was hit by a train in Thomastown around 3.10am
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Epping and Settlement roads following reports a car attempted to drive straight through the boom gates and had been hit by a passenger train.
The driver, a Doveton man, and the sole occupant of the vehicle, along with the passengers from the train were not injured.
The man was breath tested at the scene returning a positive result before furnishing an evidentiary breath test reading of .113% BAC.
It is expected the man will be charged on summons with drink driving and traffic-related offences.
