CHADSTONE, VIC. — Monash Crime Investigation Unit (MCIU) detectives are appealing for dashcam footage and witnesses following an incident in which a man was suffering from burns in Chadstone on Thursday, September 17, at about 6.50am.
Officers located the man inside a white Ford Ranger on the Monash Freeway, near the Warrigal Road exit, with significant burns.
The 49-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A second occupant of the car, a 37-year-old woman, was arrested at the scene for an unrelated matter and has since been released.
It appears the woman was driving and the man was a rear seat passenger.
The circumstances surrounding what has occurred remain unclear.
Detectives are appealing for anyone who was travelling in the area at the time who may have captured the Ford Ranger on dashcam or witnessed the incident to come forward.
An investigation is ongoing.
