Teens charged following taxi carjacking

Detectives have arrested and charged a 14-year-old Clyde boy, a 15-year-old Cranbourne East boy and a 14-year-old Nyora boy following a carjacking in Cranbourne East on May 23.

Detectives have arrested and charged a 14-year-old Clyde boy, a 15-year-old Cranbourne East boy and a 14-year-old Nyora boy following a carjacking in Cranbourne East on May 23.

Casey Crime Investigation investigators allege a taxi driver picked up three male passengers on Barnby Grove just before 5am.

Detectives will allege the males, armed with a knife, threatened the driver and made him get out of the car before driving away in the stolen taxi, which was later found dumped on Bruin Street, Clyde.

The trio were arrested during a planned operation in Narre Warren, Nyora and Cranbourne East and charged with aggravated carjacking.

The 14-year-old Clyde and Nyora boys have been bailed to appear in a Children’s Court at a later date.

The 15-year-old Cranbourne East boy was remanded to appear in a Children’s Court at a later date.
