Two charged, one extradited to Victoria in relation to drug trafficking

Victoria Police overnight extradited a male from Darwin in relation to alleged drug trafficking in Melbourne between September 2022 and February 2023.

On February 16, Major Drug Squad detectives arrested a male in the Melbourne CBD in relation to an ongoing drug investigation.

A search warrant was subsequently executed at a commercial property in Brooklyn.

Upon entering, investigators located and seized approximately 2.5 kilograms of cocaine, ammunition and items and equipment used in the preparation and storage of drugs of dependence.

Search warrants were also executed in Malvern East, Hillside, Port Melbourne, Keilor Downs and Yarraville. A 2022 Porsche Cayenne, a 2022 Ford Ranger, cash and other luxury items were seized as proceeds of crime.

One man, a 33-year-old from Malvern East, was charged with trafficking a large commercial quantity of cocaine.

He will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on December 21.

A second man, a 32-year-old from Keilor Downs, was arrested in Port Melbourne on February 16 and released pending further enquiries.

On Friday 11 August, the 32-year-old man was arrested at Darwin International Airport after attempting to board a plane to Indonesia.

He has been charged with trafficking a large commercial quantity of cocaine.

An extradition hearing was held at Darwin Local Court, where he was remanded to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on August 14.
