Whittlesea Football Netball Club has announced the appointment of Garry Ramsay as senior coach for the next two seasons.

Ramsay will take the reins in 2024, as the Eagles prepare to return to Division 2 following a winless campaign in the top flight this year.

2023 saw Ramsay take a year off coaching following a four-year stint as coach of Montmorency, where he took the club to a preliminary final last season.

“We are proud to announce the signing of Garry Ramsay as the Senior Coach of the Whittlesea Football Netball Club for the 2024 & 2025 seasons,” a Whittlesea FNC spokesperson said.

His time at the Magpies came after a strong period at Macleod, which included a premiership success in 2015 as well as four straight grand final appearances between 2015 and 2018.

“Within the NFNL, Garry mostly recently spent 4 years with Montmorency producing great results for their club. This came after a highly successful stint at Macleod, which included a premiership and four consecutive grand final appearances between 2015 and 2018,” a Whittlesea FNC spokesperson said.

Ramsay also found success at the representative level, helping the NFNL’s senior men’s representative team take the number one spot on the AFL Victoria Community Championships rankings in 2019.

“Garry brings a wealth of experience, a reputation for driving standards and achieving success over a long, highly acclaimed career.,” a Whittlesea FNC spokesperson said.
