HASTINGS, VIC. — Police arrested two men after more than $15,000 worth of stolen tools were allegedly located inside a stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee travelling along Hodgins Road at about 2.30am on Wednesday, September 16.
With assistance from the Air Wing, officers followed the vehicle, which was towing an allegedly stolen trailer, through the Hastings area before being dumped under a carport on Spring Street.
Two men aged 22 and 40 were arrested nearby.
It is alleged that approximately $15,000 worth of tools, stolen in Cheltenham earlier, were located in the vehicle.
The 22-year-old Crib Point man has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of theft from a motor vehicle, theft, handling stolen goods and several traffic offences.
He was remanded to appear at Frankston Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 28.
The 40-year-old Frankston man was released pending further enquiries.
The Jeep was allegedly stolen in Frankston on Tuesday, September 15.
