Murrindindi Shire CEO paid $38k more than senators

The base salary for a senator of the Australian parliament, set by the Parliamentary Remuneration Tribunal, is $211,250. Murrinindi Shire CEO Craig Lloyd’s salary was just increased by 1.85 per cent to $249,533.

Lloyd ’s salary amounts to three times more than the median wage and about 15 times more than people on Newstart. It is $86, 344 more than State Member for Eildon Cindy McLeish earns as a base salary.

“The Council has recently completed the first review of the CEO’s performance under the contract and determined that the CEOs performance criteria have been achieved.


“In reviewing the CEO’s remuneration package the Council notes that the increase in CPI (All Groups, Melbourne) for the 12 months to June 2019 was 1.3 per cent.


“The Council has assessed the performance of the CEO as achieving a highly satisfactory standard.

“The Council also notes that Council’s current Enterprise Agreement, which applies to all employees with the exception of the CEO and Directors, provides for an annual salary increase of 1.85 per cent.”

All councillors voted unanimously to increase Mr Lloyd’s salary to $249,533, backdated to 1 January, 2019.
