Nillumbik Shire canvasses need for regional art gallery

Nillumbik Shire Council is embarking on an exciting new project to investigate the feasibility of establishing a regional art gallery in the shire.

As part of this process, residents have the opportunity to make a contribution to this stage of the feasibility study and are invited to attend one of two summits:

Mayor Peter Clarke is encouraging as many residents as possible to participate.

“Art and culture is integral to Nillumbik, and we’re calling on residents to help us deliver results that best benefit the municipality,” Clarke said.

Council has engaged Outside the Square Creative Consulting to undertake the feasibility study.

The study will consider the needs of housing the Nillumbik Shire art collection and making it publicly accessible to our community and visitors, identifying size, scale and possible sites, together with opportunities for cultural infrastructure within the broader regional framework.

The regional gallery feasibility study is a key action of the Council Plan 2017-2021 and Arts and Cultural Plan 2018-2022.

Anyone interested in attending is asked to register by completing the Summit RSVP form on Participate Nillumbik. Registrations close Wednesday October 17 at 5 pm.
