GREENSBOROUGH.

Nillumbik Shire has developed the Draft Domestic Animal Plan 2017-2021 following community consultation.

The plan addresses statutory requirements and includes key themes Nillumbik residents identified as important including animal identification and registration, welfare issues and tourism opportunities for shire businesses such as pet-friendly accommodation.

Support services for disabled and elderly pet owners are included in the draft plan.

“We saw a significant drop in the number of cats impounded, un-desexed dogs, the provision of two fully fenced dog parks and an increase in registration for pets across Nillumbik,” Mayor Peter Clarke said.

Shire residents are invited to have their say at Nillumbik’s online forum from September 1 to 30.
