Some media outlets have reported that Paul Brophy was the Father Bob Maguire Foundation Chair in 2018. This is incorrect.
“Paul Brophy, a former Board member resigned in disgust at what he described as “shady shit” going on the Foundation board over 12 months ago,” VicNews reported last year.
An independent, verified source close to Father Bob told VicNews: “As for Brophy, he’s a liar too, ie since when was he ‘Foundation Chair since 2018?’ Father Bob was [chair] until they kicked him off after [the] Guardianship order went through.”
Mr Brophy was awarded an Order of Australia (OAM) for services to aged welfare and the community in the Australia Day Honours.
Investigations into Father Bob’s plight remain ongoing.
