It’s official. Thanks to all our readers, contributors and mentors for making us Murrindindi and the surrounding districts number one online news site by over 60,000 readers a month.
Kinglake Ranges News (5am, 12 February) has achieved 1,189,032 ‘hits’ for 2019. This equates to an average of 237,806.4 ‘hits’ per week. 1189032 divided by 5 weeks (of 2019) or a daily average of 27,445 (AWStats).
We ourselves could not believe the stats so we checked them, and checked them again before getting an independent third-party to triple-check the stats were correct.
The Local Paper claims 5,871 ‘hits’ per week. Kinglake Ranges News leads ‘hits per week’ by 231,935.4. Dindi.tv claims an additional 3408 ‘hits’ per week. Even then Kinglake Ranges News leads by an astonishing 228,527.4 ‘hits’ a week.
In their podcast, Local Paper editor Ash Long claims 18,099 weekly ‘online readers’. Kinglake Ranges News has 34,492 weekly ‘online readers‘. Adding The Local Paper‘s claimed print readership of 8,820 totals 26,919 ‘readers’ combined.
That’s 7,573 more online readers weekly than The Local Paper’s combined online, print and podcast.
The Local Paper claims 77,826 ‘monthly readers’ whilst Kinglake Ranges News has 137,968 verified readers monthly. That’s 60,142 more monthly readers.
We requested – and offered our own – independent site analysis data to The Local Paper. They refused to provide theirs nor accept ours. We hoped they’d soon share their data for comparison. They did, so we’ve used the data provided in The Local Paper‘s own podcast instead.
Another source, SimilarWeb, showed Kinglake Ranges News with 44.3k viewers from August 2018 to January 2019, whilst The Local Paper showed just 12.3k viewers, a difference of 32,000 viewers.
