Kinglake’s cricketers held on during the second days’ play against the Preston Druids 4th XI to win by nine runs during the second days’ play to secure the Lakers’ second win of season 2016-17, taking away the six points. With just 12 points from two wins for season 2016-17 the Lakers however won’t be playing finals cricket this year sitting at sixth on the ladder.
Kinglake’s third drop, Jason Gaffe had the best batting figures, with 72 runs, including eight fours, from 90 balls faced with opener Simon Andrews not far behind with 35 off 53, including four fours. Kinglake’s best bowler was James “Jimmy” Edwards with figures of three wickets from nine overs, including two maidens.
Kinglake now play the Rivergum Third XI in a two-day game at Kinglake on Saturday 18 and 24 February 2017 for their last game of summer 2016-17.
Kinglake 9/195 (55.1 overs) defeated Preston Druids 7-186 (declared) from 50 overs.
