Strathewen’s Second XI won the toss and sent Kinglake in to bat first last weekend (November 18) with Strathewen winning outright by an innings and 32 runs.
Strathewen outplayed Kinglake’s First XI on the first day (Saturday, November 18) of their two day match with the Lakers all out for 25 runs with Kinglake making the most runs from extras. (Three no-balls and a wide, bye and leg bye).
Strathewen made 147 in their first innings whilst losing three wickets before declaring just as a major storm front moved across the Kinglake Ranges in the late afternoon with the Lakers facing just two overs before the umpire Joseph Darmenia called stumps for the day.
Next weekend Kinglake play Preston Footballers Second XI in a one-day game at the Kinglake Memorial Oval, followed by an away game against Bundoora Park 3rd XI on December 16 before the Christmas break.
The season then resumes on January 6, 2018 when Kinglake play the Preston Druids 3rd XI at Kinglake.
