Shire adopts 2016-17 Annual Report

Murrindindi Shire Council adopted its 2016-2017 Annual Report at last week’s Council meeting.

The Annual Report details Council’s performance over the past 12 months against the 2016-17 Budget and the goals set within the Council Plan 2013-2018.

Murrindindi Shire Council Mayor Charlie Bisset said there were many achievements to celebrate in this Annual Report.

“Over the 2016-17 financial year, Council delivered successfully on a full capital works infrastructure program, with 96 per cent of all scheduled works complete.  One big ticket item was the upgrade of the Yea Saleyards,” Cr Bisset said.

“Council worked hard to improve our communication with the community following the launch of our Facebook page. It has been great to see our page gain considerable momentum and chatter with our ability to communicate a broad range of information out to our community.

“Council supported the community’s 150th Anniversary of Alexandra celebrations and provided significant support to the Jayco Herald Sun Tour in Kinglake, working closely with the Victorian Government to ensure continued support for the tour,” Bisset said.

“In particular I’d like to mention our highly successful community engagement campaign, ‘Have Your Say’ to which 1600 members of our community contributed theirs views.  This set the direction for the 2017-2021 Council Plan.

“That engagement process was only the first in a series of conversations we’re having with our community about our future direction.  We look forward to delivering the first report on our progress against the new Council Plan in 2018.”
