Council claims ‘baseless’ allegations, despite evidence to the contrary

“The article and headline contain allegations about Council which are entirely baseless,” a letter sent to Kinglake Ranges News by Shire CEO Craig Lloyd states.

“These allegations are extremely serious and, if there is any truth to them … should be fully investigated.”

Council also requested the article be removed as it’s “inappropriate to publish falsehoods.”

So why would over seventeen local residents (among others too – the numbers keep growing) contact Kinglake Ranges News with said information and their concerns? We didn’t make this up, people came to us and wanted it reported.

Whilst council may consider the article ‘baseless’ several locals provided (and still are, even as type this report) evidence to the contrary, and all reported meets journalism reporting standards.

It is not Kinglake Ranges News fault that council refused several requests for comment, then didn’t like it when https://www.victoriannews.com.au//2018/11/29/exclusive-developer-throws-murrindindi-council-some-cash-for-planning-permit/ was published.

Murrindindi Shire was offered a right of reply and they chose not to provide such until after publication.
