MORNINGTON PENINSULA SHIRE, VIC. — Eramosa Road East, between Lower Somerville Road and Western Port Highway, will receive major upgrades, including pavement and drainage upgrades, road safety barriers in high-risk areas, and audio-tactile line marking.
During this period, the road will be closed to through traffic, however, residents who live along this section of road will maintain access – although some delays to their travel time are expected.
Mayor Stephen Batty said that roads were a key priority for Council: “Maintaining and renewing roads, drainage and community assets remains one of the Shire’s highest priorities. This is a busy road, and while it is inconvenient with a road closure, the result will be worth it. The road will be much safer when it reopens,” Cr Batty said.
Beek Beek Ward Councillor Kate Roper said that Somerville residents have been waiting for this upgrade.
“I know the community will be happy to see this project commencing shortly. The Shire and contractor will be communicating with affected residents and the wider community to ensure everyone is well informed,“ Cr Roper said.
Pending weather conditions, Mornington Peninsula Shire aims to complete the works and reopen the road before Christmas.
