DIAMOND CREEK, VIC. — The new Diamond Creek Dog Park was officially opened last Friday, June 5.

Funded by the Victorian Government’s New and Upgraded Dog Parks Program, the $300,000 project features a dedicated passive dog area, a secured large area for active dogs, new shelters, additional seating, an additional bin, improved pathways, and landscaping.

Vicki Ward MP, Member for Eltham, joined Mayor Naomi Joiner and Councillors Peter Perkins, Kelly Joy and Kim Cope to officially open the redeveloped dog park. A plaque will be installed to commemorate the occasion.

Mayor Naomi Joiner said the project has enhanced the park for dogs and their owners.

“The layout of the park has been improved and access to the passive dog area made safer,” Cr Joiner said.

“We thank the Victorian Government for investing in this space and providing a dog park that is practical and accessible,” she said.

Ellis Ward Councillor Peter Perkins said the new dog park would serve the community well.

“The design and features of the Diamond Creek Dog Park have been informed by community feedback,” Cr Perkins said.

“The new park has covered seating, sealed paths and improved safety and access to make visits more comfortable for the humans, while dogs of all sizes can enjoy the different spaces at the park,” he said.
