LALOR, VIC. — Dogs and their owners have a new place to run, play and connect, with a $770,000 dog park at VR Michael Reserve in Lalor now open to the community.

The new facility provides a dedicated space for dogs and their owners to spend time together, helping people stay active and connected.

“The new dog park at VR Michael Reserve is a fantastic addition for dog owners in Lalor and a great example of community feedback being turned into a real outcome,” Whittlesea Mayor, Cr Lawrie Cox, said.

Features include separate active and quiet zones designed to cater for dogs of different sizes, ages and temperaments.

Visitors can also enjoy accessible pathways, shelters, seating, drinking fountains, solar lighting, shade trees and landscaping improvements that create a welcoming reserve for all users.

“Taking your dog for a walk is a great way to stay active, get outdoors and meet other people, and this new dog park provides the perfect spot to do that,” Whittlesea Mayor, Cr Lawrie Cox, said.

The project delivers a key improvement identified through the VR Michael Reserve Master Plan and was shaped by extensive community feedback.

Residents were invited to help refine the concept plan, with their input playing an important role in influencing the final design before construction began.

“We’re grateful for the Victorian Government’s support, which has helped bring this much-needed dog park to Lalor,” Whittlesea Mayor, Cr Lawrie Cox, said.

The City of Whittlesea contributed $470,000 towards the project, while the Victorian Government provided $300,000 from its New and Upgraded Dog Parks Program.
