WHITTLESEA, VIC. — The City of Whittlesea Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Craig Lloyd, will not continue as CEO and will finish in his role next month. He is moving to a local government position in Western Australia.

The City of Whittlesea yesterday announced it will be undertaking a recruitment process for a new CEO following Mr Lloyd’s decision not to enter into a new contract with the City of Whittlesea.

Mr Lloyd has accepted the role of CEO at the City of Joondalup in Western Australia.

In a media statement, Whittlesea Mayor Cr Lawrie Cox stated: “City of Whittlesea Mayor Cr Lawrie Cox acknowledged Mr Lloyd’s substantial contribution to the organisation and the broader community during his tenure.

“Since joining the City of Whittlesea in 2020, Craig has provided strong and considered leadership through many challenges and changes, including a period of Administration, the COVID-19 pandemic and the return of an elected Council.

“He has driven important organisational reforms that have strengthened the Council’s delivery of infrastructure, enhanced financial management, elevated customer service standards, deepened community engagement and advanced the use of technology.”

“His commitment to good governance, organisational excellence, and positive community outcomes has positioned Council strongly for the future. He leaves behind a capable and resilient organisation.

“Council extends its sincere thanks to Mr Lloyd for his outstanding service to the City of Whittlesea. He has made a significant and lasting contribution during his time with us, and we wish him every success in the future,” Mayor Lawrie Cox said.

Mr Lloyd finishes as City of Whittlesea CEO in late May, ahead of some pre-arranged leave.

Council will advise arrangements for an Acting CEO shortly.

Mr Staikos yesterday lost the Local Government Minister portfolio to Paul Hamer during the Allan Labor Government’s cabinet shake-up.

Mr Lloyd was also the former CEO of Murrindindi Shire when it became public knowledge about Chinese triads killing wombats in the Shire. At the time, Mr Lloyd ‘went to ground‘.
