CORIO, VIC. — The Viva oil refinery fire has been extinguished, with FRV declaring the incident under control at 12.04pm.
CFA volunteers from Corio and Lara remained in place so FRV appliances could be moved up from Melbourne.
“True to our shared goal of protecting the community, CFA readily responded to assist FRV, turning out two units from Geelong West to the scene,” a FRV spokesperson said.

The production of diesel and petrol continues; however, it has been reduced for safety reasons.
Firefighters remain on the scene and continue to monitor the situation, working with Viva and partner agencies to ensure the safe operation of the site.
There is currently no threat to the community, but you should continue to stay informed and monitor conditions.
Air monitoring in the local area shows air quality is good. Water quality from firewater runoff has had minimal impacts.
