The Federal Circuit Court of Australia today dismissed Maurice Blackburn’s Black Saturday class action taxation dispute. There will be no further payments to class action participants.
Andrew Watson, as trustee for the Murrindindi Bushfire Class Action Settlement Fund took on the Australian Tax Office and lost.
Maurice Blackburn has now been ordered to pay the ATO costs of the appeal application, ABC News reported.
His Honour, Justice Middleton, took less than two minutes to announce his decision today.
The court did not mention class action members and percentage(s) taken from compensation payments to class action participants.
