A Victoria Police sergeant from the western region has been charged following an internal investigation.
The unnamed officer has been charged with common law assault and unlawful assault.
It is alleged that the incident occurred in November 2024 while the officer was off duty.

The 39-year-old sergeant has been charged on summons.
He is expected to appear before a Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
Victoria Police did not provide the officer’s name, which station or unit he is based at, nor which Magistrates’ Court he will appear in and on what date, despite several requests.
