GEO Group (Australia) is a subsidiary of GEO Group (US). GEO Group runs ICE operations and immigrant detention facilities in the USA. It also runs Victoria’s Ravehall and Fullham (near Sale) prisons under State Government contracts.
In Victoria, GEO operates the medium-security Fullham Corrections Centre, located outside Sale. It also operates the medium security Ravenhall Corrections Centre (prison).
In the United States, GEO operates over ten ICE immigrant detention facilities. On the USA website, GEO Group lists GEO (Australia) as part of its operations along with sverval ICE detention facilities.
Victorian taxpayer dollars that pay for inmates and the state government contract with GEO has to run the Ravenhall and Fullham Corrections facilities goes directly to GEO Group’s US operations, which is GEO HQ.
Victorian taxpayers are funding US ICE operations and the detainment of immigrants in US detention camps throughout America.
The implications of Victorians, with one of the most multicultural societies on earth – which includes many immigrants – are having their state taxes used to detain immigrants in US ICE detention camps.
The Victorian Government, GEO Group (Australia) and GEO HQ (USA) did not respond to requests for comment.
