Whittlesea police are investigating following a fatal crash in Humevale this morning. At midday VicRoads told Kinglake Ranges News Whittlesea – Yea Rd would remain closed.
Local traffic is advised to use Humevale Rd.
Police believe a motorist travelling on the Whittlesea-Yea road, between Whittlesea and Kinglake West near Opperman Rd failed to negotiate a bend and crashed shortly before 7.15 am.
A number of cars travelling behind the vehicle witnessed the incident and attempted to rescue the man, whose car travelled down an embankment into trees, pulling him from the vehicle.
Sadly the male driver and sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
