Hurstbridge line construction blitz this weekend

To see the Hurstbridge train line upgrades completed the Level Crossing Removal Authority, PTV and Metro are making temporary changes impacting people on foot, using trains and on the road this weekend.

This page summarises the impacts, though they are subject to change – it is recommended that you follow PTVLevel Crossing Removal Authority and VicRoads on Twitter to monitor changes.

Local businesses on Beetham Parade, Turnham Avenue and Ellesmere Parade will remain open as usual with access maintained throughout the works.

Commuter changes

Trains

From 8.15pm Thursday 12 July to last service Sunday 15 July buses will replace trains on sections of the Hurstbridge Line.

Trains on the Hurstbridge Line will run to a revised timetable during the disruptions.

Normal train services will resume Thursday 19 July 2018.

Works may also be carried out on the Hurstbridge Line by other projects or as part of regular maintenance and renewal programs which may impact train services.

Buses

A one-way restriction is imposed on Turnham Avenue requiring the bus stop to be temporarily relocated.

Both the train replacement and regular PTV bus services can be found on Station Road. An interactive map identifies the road closures/alterations and bus stop changes.

Car parking impacts

Near Eaglemont Station

Short-term car space closures

  • 3pm Thursday 12 July to 5am Monday 16 July, up to six car spaces on Sherwood Road will temporarily close to enable train replacement bus services to operate.

Near Heidelberg Station

Long-term car space closures

  • 50 car spaces closed in the Burgundy Street car park at Heidelberg Station in April 2017. These are scheduled to reopen in July 2018.

Short-term car space closures

  • 3pm Thursday 12 July to 5am Monday 16 July, up to six on street car spaces on Mount Street in Heidelberg on the station side of the road will close to enable train replacement bus services to operate.

Rosanna Station

Due to construction works as part of the Lower Plenty Road Level Crossing Removal Project and building of the new Rosanna Station, there will be short-term and long-term car park closures at Rosanna Station from early July 2017 until late 2018.

Long-term car park closures: Until late 2018

  • The Turnham Avenue car park to the east of Rosanna Station will close from 1am Monday 3 July and will reopen in late 2018
  • The Beetham Parade car park (west of Rosanna Station) will close from 1am on Monday 11 September 2017 until late 2018

Alternative passenger parking is available within a 10-minute walk of Rosanna Station in the following locations:

  • Approximately 48 spaces on eastern side of Beetham Parade between 18 Beetham Parade and Hillside Road (unrestricted)
  • Approximately 100 spaces on eastern side of Ellesmere Parade (adjacent to railway tracks)

Note: two accessible car spaces previously located in station car park are now located on Turnham Avenue (behind Rosanna Library).

Macleod Station

Short-term car space closures

  • 3pm Thursday 12 July to 5am Monday 16 July, all on street car spaces on Birdwood Avenue and Erskine Road in Macleod on the station side of the road will serve as an interchange for train replacement bus services.

McNamara Street to the west of Macleod Station will also be used to run train replacement bus services.

Greensborough Station 

Short-term car park and space closures

  • 3pm Friday 13 July to 5am Monday 16 July, the Para Road car park at Greensborough Station will close to operate as an interchange for train replacement bus services.

Up to six car spaces on Para Road opposite the station will also close to enable train replacement bus services to operate.
