It’s a boy!

Meet Whittlesea’s First Constable Alana Olivieri, the emergency services midwife.

“On Saturday afternoon I was on my way to work and I saw Melissa and Kyle dart off the road pretty quickly,” Olivieri said.

“I did see Kyle sprint around to the passenger side and that’s when I thought I’d better get involved here.

“So I turned around and came up behind the vehicle and I said.

“Is everything OK? What’s happening?

“I initially thought it might have been a child choking or some other episode but it was actually Melissa giving birth to her second child,” Olivieri said.

“So, ah, I think my first comment was “I’m a police officer but I don’t think I can help very much.

“[I] then proceeded to find hot water and rags but all I had was a nice jumper and we went from there.

“Melissa really did all the work and Kyle was awesome. I was just there for a bit of support I think,” Olivieri concluded.
