EPPING, VIC. — A man had his car impounded after allegedly running a red arrow and providing false details to police in Epping this morning.

Fawkner Highway Patrol officers observed the vehicle on Cooper Street going through a red arrow onto the Hume Freeway just before 2am.

His vehicle was intercepted on O’Herns Road, and officers spoke to the driver, who allegedly provided false details.

Licence checks soon determined the correct details of the driver. It was established that he was unlicensed.

Additionally, the driver allegedly tested positive for drugs.

Police impounded the vehicle for $928, and the 37-year-old Braybrook man is expected to be charged on summons.

This impound forms part of Operation Nexus, a statewide road policing operation conducted over the Easter long weekend.

Police will be highly visible and enforcing on Victorian roads in an effort to reduce road trauma, targeting speed, impaired driving, fatigue and distraction offences.

The operation commenced on Thursday, April 2 and concludes 11:59pm on Monday, April 6, 2026.
