CARLTON, VIC. — Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following a stabbing in Carlton overnight.
Police believe a man was approached by an unknown offender on a footpath in Carlton Gardens near Carlton Street about 11.35pm on Wednesday, May 6.
Police were told the 24-year-old Canadian national was stabbed in the hand.
He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The offender left the knife at the scene and fled on foot.
The alleged offender was wearing dark, baggy clothing and a hood covering their head.
Detectives are investigating the circumstances of the stabbing and believe it was a random, unprovoked incident at this stage.
