BURNSIDE HEIGHTS, VIC. — Armed Crime Squad detectives, with assistance from the Special Operations Group, arrested seven people following a non-fatal shooting in Burnside Heights earlier this month.
Three men were taken into custody on Thursday, September 17, including a 29-year-old Hillside man, a 20-year-old Deer Park man and a 28-year-old Brookfield man.
A 23-year-old Deer Park woman was then arrested by detectives shortly before 6pm.
With assistance from the VIPER Taskforce, six search warrants were executed at residential addresses in Brookfield, Deer Park, Heidelberg West, Albanvale and Hillside as well as a rural property in Eynesbury.
Today, police arrested a further three men from Harkness aged 36, 28 and 23.
A further two search warrants were executed at properties in Harkness.
The 20-year-old Deer Park man and 29-year-old Hillside man were charged overnight Thursday with causing serious injury intentionally in circumstances of gross violence, reckless conduct and discharging a firearm offences.
The duo were remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on December 14.
The remaining four men and 23-year-old Deer Park woman were released. They are expected to be charged on summons.
The charges follow an incident where a man with a gunshot wound self-presented to a hospital in Sunshine on Monday, September 7, about 6.30am.
Police will allege a 27-year-old Albanvale man realised as he approached his workplace in Taylors Hill around 6.10am on Monday, 7 September 7, that there were several males waiting.
He left the scene in his vehicle, a white Chevrolet Silverado, and a pursuit ensued.
Several shots were allegedly fired from a black Dodge Ram as the cars travelled along Calder Park Drive, Taylors Hill, with one shot impacting the Albanvale man in the upper body.
The vehicles sped from the scene and the Albanvale man drove himself to a hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Police believe the parties involved are known to each other.
