Police today charged a 16-year-old boy after a stolen vehicle was tracked by police in the southeast overnight.

Officers spotted the allegedly stolen grey Mercedes sedan on the Princes Highway in Narre Warren at about 3:35am.

The air wing followed the vehicle from overhead as it was seen allegedly travelling at speeds of up to 200km/h.

Police kept eyes on the Mercedes as it allegedly travelled throughout Berwick and then inbound on the Princes Freeway, once again allegedly reaching speeds of up to 200km/hr.

A 16-year-old boy from the Casey area has been charged with several offences including theft of a motor vehicle, reckless conduct endangering life, driving at speed dangerous and learner driving unaccompanied.

Checks revealed the Mercedes was stolen during an aggravated burglary at a Coachella Way property in Berwick overnight.

Investigations concerning the aggravated burglary remain ongoing.

He will face a children’s court at a later date.
