NBN for Yea by May

Following major criticism in the media and issuing an apology, NBN Co appears to have picked up its act announcing it will soon start work on installing the national broadband network (NBN) in Yea.

800 local homes are expected to be able to connect by May 2018.

Crews will soon be on the ground to check pits and pipes before laying fibre-optic cable and building node cabinets throughout the Yea area.

Many premises in the Yea region are also eligible to connect to the NBN now through the ‘SkyMuster’ satellite service, the head of NBN Local, Victoria and Tasmania Ebony Aitken, told Murrindindi Shire in a media release.

“This is terrific news for Yea as it means the community will be fully connected to the NBN access network once construction is complete.

“By May next year, many local residents and businesses will have access to fast broadband; something that has been desperately needed in regional and rural Australia for many years.”

“Bridging Australia’s digital divide is vital for regional areas like Yea …” Aitken said.

Residents and businesses may experience disruptions during the works.
