Horsham man to be extradited from Queensland

A 25-year-old Horsham man who allegedly fled Victoria over a fatal in Great Western has been extradited, following a joint operation between Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives and Queensland Police.

A 25-year-old Horsham man who allegedly fled Victoria over a fatal in Great Western has been extradited, following a joint operation between Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives and Queensland Police.

He was on bail, facing one count of dangerous driving causing death before allegedly fleeing Victoria and skipping bail.

The charge relates to a collision in 2022 on the Western Freeway which claimed the life of a 53-year-old Horsham woman.

A warrant was issued for the 25-year-old Horsham man when he failed to appear in court on Thursday.

Within hours, Tactical Crime Squad officers and Upper Mount Gravatt Criminal Investigation Branch detectives attended an address in Macgregor and arrested the man at the scene.

He faced court in Brisbane. An extradition order was granted.

He will be transported to Victoria today to face Melbourne County Court on December 4 and is expected to be remanded in custody.
