Plenty of time to answer questions during election campaigning, but after the fact … crickets …

Today, the federal Liberal Party demonstrated that they will not answer independent, freelance journalists’ questions.

Both the Victorian (state) and  federal Liberal Party (and it’s media team) will speak to journalists who – in their words “work for a major outlet.”

However, we point out that during both Victorian state and federal elections, the Liberal Party’s media machine does respond. Once the election ‘cycle’ is over, then an independent freelance journalist who was worth speaking to yesterday (before the election) isn’t worth speaking to any more as they don’t work “for the majors (Costello/Murdoch/Stokes/ABC).”

In the next state and federal election cycles, we will document all politicians who are more than happy that chat and send relentless campaign emails, and who suddenly don’t respond when questions require answers once the election result is known.

It is a regular occurrence at local, state and federal government levels.
