Minister for Sport John Eren and Member for Yan Yean Danielle Green last Thursday (October 18) announced $150,000 in funding was being provided to the Hurstbridge Football Netball Club.
The funding is to redevelop its change rooms and make them female friendly.
“The Bridges have been an integral part of Hurstbridge for more than a century, and we’re helping them secure a future that welcomes and benefits girls and boys, women and men,” Green said.
Hurstbridge Football Netball Club has a long history in the area going back 104 years, while the netballers joined the club a few years ago and have been steadily building their numbers the current pavilion at Ben Frilay Oval lacks female friendly facilities.
The redeveloped pavilion will feature accessible and female friendly player and umpire rooms, meaning Hurstbridge’s women and girls will feel more at home.
This funding follows $10,000 earlier this year to progress planning for the redevelopment and $15,000 to upgrade lighting.
Eren and Green acknowledged Nillumbik Shire Council for its commitment to the project.
