Kinglake’s ‘Lakettes’ won Kinglake’s first ever netball premiership by four goals with C grade (36) defeating Belgrave (32). Captain, coach and centre Errin White lead the way with a best on court performance, winning the best on court medal.
It was a tight match that could have gone either way but Kinglake kept up defensive pressure and moving the ball forward making it difficult for Belgrave to catch up.
Belgrave came within a goal at halftime before Kinglake increased their lead by four points at three quarter time. In the final quarter both sides shot eight goals leaving Kinglake as four-point premiers.
Congratulations to Olivia Turner-Dickason (GS), Sally Ann Nott (GA), Stacey Chalmers (WA), Errin White (C), Lauren McMahon, Kylie Butler (GD), Carly Fowles (GK), Rachel Chalmers (SUB) and Amy Teodorovic (SUB).
Football players, committee members past and present and locals went to Woori Yallock on Saturday to support the girls on their way to netball victory.
Kinglake have fielded four (A to D grade) netball sides since joining the Yarra Valley Mountain District Football/Netball League in 2008.
