Woman sexually assaulted in Bell St, Yarra Glen car park

Police are investigating the alleged sexual assault of a woman pushing a trolley in the Bell Street, Yarra Glen car park, at the rear of IGA, on Sunday, March 4 around 8:45 p.m.

Police detectives are appealing for information after a person -presumed to be male-came up behind her, grabbed her around the waist and then put their hand down her pants.

The victim told the person to stop and they ran off.

The woman was not physically injured during the incident and contacted police to report the incident soon after.

Knox Sexual Offence and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives are appealing for anyone who might have witnessed the incident or noticed any suspicious activity in the area around the time.

Police also wish to speak to a person who was riding a bike nearby at the time of the incident who may have witnessed the alleged sexual assault.
