Crooks ram police car in Epping this morning

Police have arrested two men following an alleged burglary and police car ramming in Epping early this morning.

Security notified police of a burglary at a High Street department store about 4.30am, Sunday, 25 November.

Police arrived sighting a vehicle allegedly attempting to flee the scene.

The police car moved to block the vehicle’s exit and was allegedly rammed by the fleeing car.

When the fleeing car allegedly attempted to ram the police vehicle again, a second police car has struck the side of the offending car.

The second collision has caused the fleeing car to stall, allowing police to deploy capsicum spray on the three occupants.

The alleged driver, a 27-year-old Brookfield man, was arrested at the scene and the other two occupants fled the scene.

The Dog Squad and Air Wing become involved in the search, with Critical Incident Response Team members arresting a 35-year-old Coolaroo man nearby.

Both occupants were taken to hospital for observation.

Police are still searching for a third man.

Two police officers sustained minor injuries during the incident that did not require hospital treatment.

Nothing was stolen during the burglary.

Anyone with information in relation to the third man is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
