6:00pm: Labor has swept to power in a crushing defeat so far winning 52 (of 88) Lower House seats in the Victorian State Election with a 4.8 per cent swing.
Liberal Member for Eildon, Cindy McLeish, is one of few Liberal members to retain her seat. McLeish was last night cautious though about claiming victory.
The Liberal Party hold 24 seats and independents 2 seats.
“It is not over to it’s over but it is looking favourable.
“It is tight and you don’t take anything for granted,” she told The Weekly Times adding the swing against the Liberals was “extremely disappointing.”
