Kinglake Country Fair 2019

Since revitalising last year the Kinglake Country Fair again kicks off tomorrow (Sunday 17 March) at 2980 Heidelberg-Kinglake Road from 10am to 5pm.

A mild and sunny day of 26c is predicted.

Food trucks, a beer garden and live music are also part of the day.

Tickets can be purchased at the gate or online here.

  • Adults $9

  • Child (3-15yrs) & Senior $5

  • Family 2 adults & 2 Kids $24

  • Ride passes $5

  • Unlimited Ride Pass $35

Activities for all ages including tug of war, limbo, giant thong races, sack races, gumboot throwing, three-legged and egg and spoon races, dress up races and pantyhose bowling.

Pedestal jousting and a slingshot. Not to mention the Ranges Run Obstacle course.

There will be a free chill out zone with giant games for kids and adults, children’s yoga sessions, Bhangra dancing session, and car and bike display. You can listen to the entertainment on the main stage, check out all the competition entries such as cake decorating and the fashion design or watch the dog jumping, the drone display or the Emergency Services demonstrations.

Then cheer on the King and Queen of the Mountain contestants as they race around the course. And this year, we have the TWO new races – the 18+ Mate Carrying Race where contestants sprint to the finish line carrying a friend (we can’t wait to see some of the carrying techniques) and the Kinglake ARTBIKE race, where we are sure to see some wacky designs this year from all age groups…..yes, adults too can have some fun…….or just cheer on the kids who put in a massive effort.

Peruse our market vendors, so much to choose from. Enjoy some fabulous food from our food vendors. Have a relaxing drink in the beer garden.

And of course there are the big rides for those who love them with both single ride and unlimited ride passes available.

Parking on site (Gate 1) with pedestrian access from town via Gate 2.

King & Queen of the Mountain

THE RACE IS ON!!

The Bendigo Bank King of the Mountain Race is returning. This time a Queen of the Moutain will also be held.

This race will separate the King and Queen from their subjects as competitors run the 1.6km course carrying an 18kg sack.

You can carry your weighted sack on your shoulders, in your arms, on your back, any way you like. Just get it from the starting line to the finishing line as fast as you can.

Winners will hold the Crown for the coming year and receive a cash prize of $250. A cash prize of $100 for the runners up has been added.

One Armed Tradie

Are you a local tradie? Enjoy carpentry? Or do you have absolutely no building skills whatsoever? To be honest, it really doesn’t matter because having one arm tied behind your back levels the playing field as you race to build our challenge project with minimal tools. The winner will receive a Cash prize of $200

30 Minute Hairdo

Contestants have 30 minutes to create a hairstyle on your own model using hair styling basic equipment only. Beautiful, outrageous, or outrageously beautiful…….we don’t care! Tease, brush, twist, pin and design your way into the winner’s circle. You will need to bring your own equipment, model and your hairdressing prowess along. The winner will receive a cash prize of $200

Cake Eating Competition

Have your cake and eat it too! Just make sure you do it faster than anyone else to win. This is about the only time it’s considered good manners to shovel your food in at warp speed. Don’t leave any crumbs. The winner will receive a prize

Mate Carrying Comp

A 100m sprint in pairs, with one person carrying the other. Your carrying technique is up to you…….on your shoulders, on your back, upside down, in your arms, whatever it takes BUT if you drop them (and you might) you must NOT move forwards until you pick them up again.

The winner will receive 10 passes to the Hilltop Fitness in Kinglake West

Dog Jumping

A friendly competition to test your dog’s jumping ability, regardless of size, age and if they have competed before.

There will be 3 categories

  • Small dog class under 50cm

  • Medium dog class 50cm – less than 60cm

  • Large dog class 60cm and over.

Cake Decorating

A competition to decorate a cake using icing

and sugar products.

Be creative, have fun, try your best.

Cakes entered can be any size up to 28” x 28.

Entries are open to everyone, whether you

are a novice or an expert.

Entries can be made using fresh cakes, cereal bars or other, but as the Kinglake Country Fair is

striving to be a sustainable event Styrofoam dummies are not allowed.

Cakes can be single tier or multi-tier.

FASHION ON THE RANGES

A chance for the Fashion Designer in you to come out!

Two categories:

  • Original designs

  • Recycled Fashion

There will be blind judging by three locals prior to the event and a People’s Choice Award with voting closing at 3.30pm.
